SCAHU Event: Provider Billing and its Many Challenges

When: Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 8:30 - 10:00 am

Where: Kaiser Permanente, 1975 Research Parkway Suite 250, Colorado Springs, CO

Description: Please join us in welcoming Janet Pogar, RVP of Provider Solutions at Anthem BCBS, for our SCAHU February meeting. Janet will discuss with us how the move to “limited or high performance” networks has impacted health care costs and access.  She will also cover out-of-network claims, while at in-network provider, hospital, surgery center or emergency room.  Small group vs. level- or self-funded, and when CO Network Adequacy laws apply.  Other topics covered will be facility fees, narrow networks, referrals, and has all of this actually influenced the cost and quality of care?

Speaker: Janet Pogar is a true Colorado native, born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. Janet has a passion for continuing to reduce the cost of health care and has worked on all sides of the delivery system – including hospital, physician and health plan. Janet’s career has included working with several physician organizations in Colorado Springs and Denver, including Physician’s Network (IPA) and their associated (and only physician owned, at the time) HMO in Colorado Springs overseeing the operations of both the IPA’s and HMO. Since re-joining Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1999, Janet has held a statewide Director, and now Regional Vice President role and oversees all hospital, physician, ambulatory surgery centers and ancillary negotiations as well as numerous operational functions including credentialing, analytics, payment innovation and payment for value in the Colorado market.

Janet lives in Monument with her husband Steve. Not too far from her are her son, his wife and two granddaughters (Leila & Annika) and their most recent addition a grandson OliverAidan. Her passions include family, traveling and listening to live music.
